Bundling Competencies – Accelerating Battery Innovation

The development of cost-effective and high-performance batteries is not a linear process. By comparing and testing different technological paths, specific customer requirements can be considered, and an optimal solution can be found. The Fraunhofer Battery Campus provides centralized access to the extensive technology and service offerings of the four experienced Fraunhofer institutes Fraunhofer IWS, Fraunhofer IKTS, Fraunhofer FEP, and Fraunhofer IISB – all in one place, with the necessary expertise and infrastructure.

Avantages at a Glance:

  • Complementary technology offerings for development and production research
  • Comprehensive infrastructure from four Fraunhofer institutes in one location
  • Experienced experts and project teams

Korea-Fraunhofer Collaboration Hub for Science and Technology K-FAST

The Global Industrial Technology Cooperation Center (GITCC) granted by MOTIE (Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy), operating under the name of Korea – Fraunhofer Collaboration Hub for Science and Technology (K-FAST). K-FAST aims to establish sustainable R&D cooperation models between Korean companies and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft for global industrial technology collaboration and to create excellent research outputs with high industrial ripple effects through developed joint R&D projects.

Objectives:

  • Identify/analyze/match cooperation demand for R&D consortium
  • Planning/consulting/developing cutting-edge R&D proposals with Korean consortiums, along with their evaluation. Focusing on challenging but market-valuable topics which are not, or are barely, plausible in Korea yet.
  • Organizing/executing Feasibility study and Scale-up solution
  • Designing Fraunhofer-oriented, i.e. ”Field-focused”, training programs for Korean Industry project partners which will be running during a R&D project. Goal is to enable Korean industry to optimize technology learning and transferring process.
  • Networking creating and enhancing through a well-organized corresponding events, i.e. Fraunhofer Battery Days (annually)
